Dr.Garrett earned his medical degree from Queen's University, Kingston,Canada. He then specialized in Radiation Oncology at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. He remained on staff there specializing in Head and Neck malignancies.
In 1984 Dr. Garrett and his family moved to Indianapolis. He and his wife Nora have raised their four children here and have actively participated in the growth of cancer care in central Indiana.
Dr. Garrett has been Medical Director of Radiation Therapy at both Methodist Hospital and in his present position at St. Francis Hospital. He is also Medical Director for all Oncology services. He has published over 25 articles on cancer care and has presented over 35 papers on this subject in the United States, Canada and Europe.
He has special expertise in the treatment of Head and Neck Cancer and the use of radiation in Bone Marrow Transplantation. He is also involved in the development of clinical pathways to decrease the cost of cancer care and improve the effectiveness of treatment.
Dr. Garrett is Board certified in both the United States and Canada. He has been awarded his Fellowship in Radiation Oncology by the American College of Radiology and more recently by the American College of Radiation Oncology.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Garrett enjoys the benefits of being married to a gourmet cook. To burn off the excess calories he enjoys spending time with his children and running.
