Dr. Stanley Givens earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology (with Honors) from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC in 1982. He obtained his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis in 1986.
Dr. Givens began his post-graduate training with a Transitional Internship at Methodist Hospital of Indiana from 1986-1987. He then did his residency training in Radiation Oncology at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX from 1987-1991. Dr. Givens was selected Chief Resident during his final year of residency training. He has been in practice in Indianapolis since 1991.
Dr. Givens received "The Best Doctors in America Award" in 2003 and 2004, the AMA Physician's Recognition Award in 2001 through 2004, and is a past recipient of The Indianapolis Monthly Magazine's "Top Doc" Award in Radiation Oncology. In December 2007, Dr. Givens was selected as an outstanding physician for the Hendricks Regional Health "Top Ten" Award (HRH internal associate recognition program).
Dr. Givens is a member of several professional organizations including The American Medical Association (AMA), The American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), The Gilbert H. Fletcher Society, The Indiana State Medical Association and The Indianapolis Medical Society.
Dr. Givens is married to his wife, Martha, and has two sons, Ross and Scott. His outside interests include tennis, bicycling, and reading.
