Dr. Marvel earned his medical degree from the Louisiana State Medical School, Shreveport, LA in 1985. He completed his Transitional Internship at Louisiana State Medical School, in Shreveport, LA in 1986. Dr. Marvel completed his Radiation Oncology Residency at Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN in 1989.

Dr. Marvel is the Indiana Grassroots State Captain for the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology. Dr. Marvel has served as Alternate Chancellor to the American College of Radiology, as President and Chair of the Board of the Indiana Society of Radiation Oncology, President and Director of the Madison County unit of the American Cancer Society, as a consultant to the Midwest Proton Radiotherapy Institute, and as Chairmen of the Board of The King's Academy. He has been a member of the Hoosier Oncology Group. Dr. Marvel currently serves on the Boards of Nojak and Energy, Inc. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Marvel is a member of the American College of Radiation Oncology, and the Indiana State Medical Association. He has a special interest in prostate cancer and head and neck cancer.

Dr. Marvel is married to Jean, has 5 daughters, and 6 grandchildren.
